Excerpt from A New Approach to Magnetohydrodynamic Stability: I. A Practical Stability Concept The problem of magnetohydrodynamic stability, in particular of the diffuse linear pinch, is one of the most extensively investigated subjects in plasma physics. The subject has recently found renewed interest, mainly because of its evident implications for plasma confinement experiments aiming at thermonuclear fusion. An understanding of the basic features involved in stability is clearly crucial to further progress in this field. In this and the accompanying paper we aim at a contribution towards such under standing. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at www.forgottenbooks.com This book is a reproduction of an important historical work. Forgotten Books uses state-of-the-art technology to digitally reconstruct the work, preserving the original format whilst repairing imperfections present in the aged copy.
