The word “Ta’am” means taste in Yiddish and Hebrew. A Ta'am to Remember is a treasure trove of traditional and contemporary kosher recipes edited by Norene Gilletz, an award-winning food writer and the leading kosher cookbook author in Canada. The 192 recipes in A Ta'am to Remember range from cabbage rolls and knishes to sushi and chicken cassoulet. The recipes were submitted by 73 residents of the Terraces of Baycrest, a supportive housing community for seniors in Toronto. Many of the recipes include touching personal anecdotes. These heartwarming stories are snapshots of Jewish life in pre-war Europe and Canada from the years leading up to the Great Depression and World War II to the post-war years and beyond. Proceeds from the sale of this cookbook support programs and projects by the Terraces Resident Council.
