Academy of Blood and Forgotten Gods
At Rookskeep Academy, only the Blooded are meant to belong.
For generations, nine ancient families have sent their children to the academy to learn the secret art of binding gods through blood, names, and obedience. In return for divine power and unnatural longevity, each student must eventually surrender themselves to a god during the mysterious ritual known as the Sitting.
Wren Quill is not Blooded.
A scholarship student known as a Grey, Wren survives at Rookskeep by keeping her head down and working in the academy's Lost Property room. But when she discovers a forgotten god hiding inside her coat pocket, everything she believed about the school begins to unravel.
Nobody calls himself the god of lost things. Small, strange, and nearly forgotten, he can find anything that has been genuinely lost—including secrets the Blooded families have spent generations trying to bury.
Wren's search becomes personal when she discovers that her older sister, Odile, once a student at Rookskeep, was involved in a forbidden ritual involving the god of promises. Odile returned from the academy alive, but somehow changed: painfully literal, emotionally distant, and haunted by something she refuses—or is unable—to remember.
As Wren follows the trail through forgotten rooms, ancient contracts, forbidden names, and the academy's sacred Book of Houses, she begins to suspect that the Sitting is not the honor everyone believes it to be.
The gods may not be choosing their hosts.
They may be taking them.
And if Wren wants to uncover what happened to her sister, she will have to discover why the gods have begun to remember her name.
