The United States has been very fortunate in not having more terrorist activities occur on its home soil. In 240 years of its existence, there have only been 30 significant instances of domestic terrorism. The worst terror attack occurred on September 11, 2011 when 19 hijackers deliberately crashed four airliners into the WTC, Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania.
