They discover one-to-one correspondence with objects throughout the environment. The story is inspired by the author's father and ventriloquist doll, Alexander. Papa was a former deputy friendly in Racine County in Wisconsin. Alexander accompanied Papa on appearances to schools, fairs, parades, and various functions in Racine, Wisconsin. Alexander was a pillar of laughs for children throughout Racine, Wisconsin. Papa was able to maintain his role as deputy friendly until he retired. Papa passed in 2015. The doll, Alexander, spends time with Papa's children and grandchildren. Alexander is set to make appearances with his new book, honoring his papa.
