Debut mystery with old-fashioned charm. The author uses his 30 years of experience as a bookseller to convincingly portray the Boston book world. Hound is a book for the bibliophile: it offers a unique and authentic look at one city’s literary scene through the lens of a murder mystery. Will appeal especially to independent booksellers, who are an integral part of the protagonist’s life and work. Author has completed draft of a sequel, A Slepyng Hound to Wake. After closing the Boston location of his bookshop, Avenue Victor Hugo Books, McCaffrey wrote an essay, "The Crepuscule," which, for better or worse, got a ton of online attention. McCaffrey is well known in the Boston area. He was interviewed and featured many times in the Boston Globe and when the store closed the Globe and PW both wrote pieces on it. Earlier he had also written an essay on bookshops weathering the economy for the Christian Science Monitor (not that the CSM or bookshops are surviving!). McCaffrey is well-known in the Boston area and we will work out from there to mystery bookshops in the northeast and across the country.
