Fresh and classy, there's a restrained intensity to the nose. Lightly toasted oak weaves through flinty minerality, a puff of ocean air, lemon pith, white sage, white blossom and a subtle smokiness. On the palate, the fruit purity bursts through an oatcake and citrus-rind savoury compression, with vibrant acidity and salinity that is both supple and quenching. Like a swan gliding over the water, this is fine, silvery and simmering, yet below the surface sits a firm core and structure. Plenty of intrigue, with a sense of place and impressive persistence. This sings with a long melodic line. A blend of 77% Sauvignon Blanc 23% Semillon; grown in the coolest part of the region, on the most southern vineyard in Margaret River. Fruit was whole-bunch pressed then fermented in 27% new French oak with monthly batonnage; aged for 9 months. Drinking window: 2024-2037.
