When Junior High student Ben Bell moves to a new town, he notices the population sign doesn't match the actual number of living residents. After meeting a pair of odd kids, he learns to solve the mystery of the missing people. The pair explain to him that it was the work of trolls. After a class crush goes missing, Ben starts to believe them and motions to move forward with a plan to get her back. First, they would have to go into the abandon mine shaft to search her out.
