My childhood dream was to anchor the nightly news. As an eight-year-old little girl, using a hairbrush as my pretend mic, I would practice my scripts, standing in front of my bedroom mirror. Dreams come true, and in my twenties, I became a news anchor. Then, tragic news followed, and the love of my life was gone. In my grief, I ran into the arms of someone other than God. I was vulnerable and broken, and the devil knew just how to deceive me. But when I surrendered it all to God, He gave me beauty for ashes and answered a prayer I offered at just sixteen years old that changed my life. God wrote a new script for my life, and it was tagged with sensational headlines, better than I could have imagined. If that's you, don't believe the devil's lies, go after God with all your strength. He will turn the twisters and tornadoes of your life into bright, sunny days. "One of the first things you notice about Katie when you meet her is the gleam in her eyes. How can a person who has experienced so much hurt shine so brightly? It's through the telling of her story that you'll find the answer. When you realize her light comes from a source that's also available to you, you'll want to hear how she got there. I encourage everyone who is hurting or seeking to help the hurting to read this story and find out how you, too, can find a way to shine." - Tim Glenn, former news anchor and co-worker "Katie Bethel Holmes is an inspiration to me and all those who know her! She is a bright light whose inner beauty and outer beauty radiate the joy of a victorious life in Christ. Her story of how God brought her from great loss to a place of strength and restoration is a must read!" -Rebecca D.
