The Pentrich Revolution was the last armed rising in England. This book seeks to explain why around 400 men thought that an armed rising was their only option. They failed; but they were not criminals, they were hard working family men who were desperate. The involvement of an unrepresentative government, spies paid on results, 'agent provocateurs' and self interest caused disaster to many honest families.
