An extrremely dangerous voyage is planned by Professor Aronnax, to be undertaken with his faithful servant Conseil and the Canadian harpooner Ned Land. The purpose of the voyage is to destroy a mysterious sea monster, but on investigation the undersea menace turns out to be no monster but a sophisticated submarine commanded by the charismatic Captain Nemo. The ensuing drama involves many tense, gripping and improbable submarine adventures. This is a great tale from the father of science fiction, one in which he anticipates electric lightening, submarine navigation, and many more of the technological advances which we so much take for granted as part of our lives today.
