Based on the holiday of Halloween (or known as Samhain), the story of 31 is an anthology, a collection of short stories. Inspired by the work of Michael Dougherty, the film director and writer of Trick r' Treat, and the work of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz and Stephen Gammell, all true masters of the horror genre, these Halloween stories are intertwined together. Each story leads up to the October 31st, the night of Halloween, each impacting on the next story and their characters in the supernatural world in a sequence.
