In the sun kissed land he finds safety withing the swaying tall sugar cane fiellds and work on the Plantations of the country. Jacob finds love with Queenie marrying out of his calss, religion and race. The four children of this marriage Beatrice, Pauline, Hilda and Charlie continue the tale and we delve into their lives learning about all their trails and tribulations and successes too. Always the back drop of the story silently witnessing everythng is the home bought by Johne Augustus Richards, Beatrice's husband, and this family unitendured and thrived all manner of situations enduring heartache, medical malpractice, colonialism, Marxism, mass Emigration, Polictical coups, brain drain and of course love.
