A Boy From Primrose Hill is the memoir of Jeremy Goodchild. From a large and colourful family in London's NW1. My life has changed directions many times. I grew up in Primrose Hill in Regents Park in the 1960s before it became "trendy" Although, change was in the air as Cilla Black had moved in and famous playwright Alan Bennett was already living close by. As a gay man growing up in London and Brighton in the 1970s through to today I have witnessed all the changes in the gay world from police raids to Aids, and eventually legal marriage. I also helped set up the first HIV and Aids charities in Brighton. In this book as well as my own story I have chronicled some of the funny and sad tales about the lifestyle and fabulous characters that made up the LGBT world then. The son of successful publicans, I mixed with the rich and famous and brushed shoulders with some of the biggest stars and gangsters in British history. I never dreamed I would play the piano for Dorothy Squires, end up owning my own club where Dame Vera Lynn came to call, or move to Spain and become a psychic healer. I hope you enjoy the abridged anecdotes I've included, forgive the shameless name dropping and come on a stroll down memory lane with me.
