It is true that it contains entries of earlier and of later date, but those of date before 1569 were probably inserted between the years 1569 and 1591 for purposes of reference those entered after 1591 are very few and disconnected. The actual compilation of the Register took place within the twenty-two years between July 1569 and July 1591.
