It is 1911 when Bill and Isobel Elgin scramble down from the Kalgoorlie Express with their family of six in tow to begin a new life in the wheatlands of Western Australia. As they head to their farm in Bunburra to fulfill their dream of a better future, Isobel and her daughters lament over the dry, dusty, vermin-infested landscape that is vastly different from their former home in England.
