The ability to identify a plant is important pre-requisite knowledge and skills in supporting conservation effects. It has always played important role in plant study because they have been proven to be useful environmentally, medicinally, nutritionally, ornamentally and recreationally in human life. However, the confusing botanical terminology and difficulty in pronunciation their names are often seen as factors that put people off from identifying the plants thriving around us. This book aims to make possible the identification of some common plants to family, genus and species level. The book is designed and developed for the educational purposes for students, teachers, amateurs, plant enthusiasts, gardeners, field researchers and vegetation managers, to serve as a quick field guide to identification of some common flowering plants found in the sub-tropical parts of South-west Bhutan. Users of this book do not require much expertise or background in Taxonomy/Botany. Simple technical terms have been used and illustrated plant pictures, leaf guides such as leaf types, arrangements, shapes, margins, and glossary have been included to help users with botanical/or technical terms.
