In a small town, lying in the shadow of a huge chalk mountain in eastern Ukraine, a family court is in session. Two young families are pitted against each other. They used to be close friends, now one of them accuses the other of being the real father of his son. His former friend denies it as well as his wife. The quest to discover the truth takes the families back in time, from the repression era through the “thaw”, stagnation era, dashing 90s and to the early 2000s in Ukraine, revealing many family secrets. But the biggest of them all is kept to the end. Includes three authentic Ukrainian recipes.
