Susannah O'Shea lives a Cinderella life in the 1800's. Her stepmother and stepsisters treat her like a servant. She desires a life out on her own with a goal of fun and adventure and to be no man's wife. Then she meets the handsome, Rogan McKenzie, Wagon Master of the wagon train she's on to go to Oregon. Her thoughts quickly change to wanting him as a husband, but he doesn't seem to be interested in taking on a wife. Or the collection of children she starts caring for when accidents, Indians and illness leaves the young ones homeless. As dangers on the trail unfold, their relationship grows stronger until they cannot deny they love each too much to be parted. But then tragedy strikes near the end of their journey. Rogan falls off a cliff into a deep canyon no one can go down. Susannah is devastated by his death. Can she survive a broken heart and find a new love? Or will she pour all her love into raising her adopted five children and Rogan's child growing inside her?
