The Legend: In 1835, near Laphamville (modern Rockford), Michigan, several children went missing. After trusted village elder Elias Friske confessed to their murder, he was hanged by vengeful parents. His ghost is rumored to still inhabit the site of the lynching - an area known locally as "Hell's Bridge."
