This short book contains all the information you need to brew awesome beer at home, no filler, very little science, just the bare necessities. It includes an overview of the necessary equipment, the basic ingredients, some of the technical terminology, and, of course, step-by-step instruction in basic homebrewing techniques. This book is NOT a definitive reference work on brewing. That is, in fact, the opposite of what this book is intended to be. My intention is to keep this book as short as possible and to communicate to homebrewers and aspiring home brewers just enough information and instruction that, along with some hands-on experience (like the kind you might get at a how to brew seminar, or helping a friend go through the process), will give a new homebrewer the confidence to tackle the process on her or his own (although brewing with a friend is always easier). The goal of this book is to provide its reader with a solid working understanding of the homebrewing process. This book will provide the amateur enough information so that, with a bit of practice, the amateur homebrewer can brew great beer without additional onerous research or a degree in biochemistry. That said, if it is the reader's intention to eventually take a 'deep dive' into the science of brewing (which is fascinating ) this book will provide valuable context into all the biological and chemical processes that turn malt, water, hops and yeast into beer.
