It tells the story of 3 married couples. Two of the couples are blissfully united while the lost middle couple is hopelessly battered by alcohol and insanity. All three husbands, grandfather, son, and grandson, suffer from the pangs of war which WW1, WW2, and Viet Nam bring about on blood thirsty battlefields. Unbelievable heroism and unaccounted for marksmanship allow for the family's unlikely survival. Another unmarried couple interact in Pakistan with the young grandson to stop the world from communist takeover and nuclear holocaust. Perhaps braver than their spouses the women play an instrumental role in saving life on earth as we know it. This novel commences in World War 11 in 1943, in Italy, then reverts to World War 1 in the trenches of Somme France in 1917, features a series of deadly confrontations in Pakistan in the 60s, and early 70s, and ends at the conclusion of the Viet Nam conflict in 1975.
