The 2019 Corton Le Clos du Château Grand Cru, a monopole of course, has an understated and refined bouquet of brambly red fruit, briary and hints of potpourri that reminds me of Chandon des Briailles in style. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, well integrated oak, a fine bead of acidity and a judicious pepperiness that lends complexity towards its refined finish. I am quite taken by the elegance of this Corton and it will be difficult to resist in its youth because for a Grand Cru, it is very approachable. Drinking window: 2023-2036. Score - 92-94.
