Cathay is a collection of translations of ancient Chinese poetry by the American poet Ezra Pound, first published in 1915. The book includes translations of poems from the Tang dynasty, known for its flourishing of literature and culture, as well as earlier works from the Han and Wei dynasties. Pound's translations are notable for their spare, imagistic style and their emphasis on capturing the essence of the original Chinese texts rather than attempting to provide literal translations. The book was a significant contribution to the development of modernist poetry in the early 20th century, and helped to introduce Chinese literature to a Western audience. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
