The flagship wine of Vignobles Silvio Denz, Château Faugères is situated on the appellation's limestone plateau and is another estate that has punched well above its weight in 2015. The wine has retained ample freshness in the warm vintage, combined with the beautiful richness of a great year. A blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine spent 14 months in French oak barrels, half new and half second-fill. Gareth Birchley: Rich, with plenty of dark fruit, good concentration and a lovely finish. Vincenzo Arnese: Intense and ripe. Jammy fruit aromas. Good body and structure. Rich, yet well-poised tannins and a frame of well-integrated oak. Arthur Coggill: Interesting, spicy nose - cumin, mint and coffee, with cool raspberry beneath. Sweetly ripe mouthfeel, plush and rounded. Juicy palate, bright acidity. Fruit-forward and tasty with a tannic finish. Drinking window: 2024-2036. Score - 95.
