I did not excel in high school and was not at the top of my class academically. My school counselor made suggestions of the classes I should enroll in based on my performance in previous classes. The problem with that calculation, however, was that the curriculum I was enrolled in, was not designed for creative thinkers. It was a logic based program where every body was enrolled in their first years in math, science, english, history, social studies.... you know the drill. And the students that excelled in math and science, went on to be considered really good students and praised for all of their hard work. But, if you were a creative thinker, unless you were fortunate enough to attend a School For Creative Arts, your experience may not have been the same. You may have spent alot of time asleep in class. Or, you may have been disinterested in the subjects that weren't Art. Music, Literature, Graphic Design, Dance, Theater...etc. Unfortunately, those early challenges in school; trying to determine why you always felt like you did not fit in, may have left you feeling inadequate or a bit like a failure. If this is/was your experience, you are not alone, and there is nothing wrong with you! In fact, the world would not be able to make innovative, forward thinking progress without you.
