In a far off world of swords and magic, there lies a beautiful, rugged continent to the north-Ilia. Here, an ancient, peaceful culture thrived until the ruthless Mar invaded. Promptly burying the old traditions under their boots, the Mar implemented new traditions like The Games, a gladiator-style event where the strong demonstrate their prowess, and prisoners are sacrificed for entertainment.
However, Cryed, a young Ilian, is about to learn not all Mar are enemies, and not all traditions are forgotten...
Cryed wants nothing to do with the world beyond the plants in his garden, which thrive unnaturally under his hand. His best friend, the beautiful, bold Andaria, thirsts for adventure (and trouble) often pulling him along against Cryed's better nature. He hates the Mar and their Games. Unfortunately for Cryed, attendance is mandatory.
But when a convicted Mar warrior dramatically escapes The Games, Andaria and Cryed become unwittingly cast into a world much larger and more dangerous than either of them ever imagined.
