In contrast to the nose of the Bressandes this is more obviously wooded and while it's not enough to dominate the more overtly sauvage-inflected dark berry fruit, earth and spice aromas, it's not subtle. There is outstanding density and even more muscle present on the even bigger and richer flavors that also possess a velvety mouth feel thanks to the copious amount of dry extract present on the sappy, complex and very serious finale. This is a big wine with firm tannins to accompany it yet the extract is such that it should be more than capable of not only absorbing the wood treatment but buffering the tannic spine as well. Note well though that this is not a wine to drink in its youth. Drink: 2029+. Score - 94.
