A very worthy village-level Volnay from the inaugural vintage of Domaine Pierre Vincent, with a lovely density of blackberry fruit and a silky, fine tannic structure. The new proprietors have taken over this 0.35ha parcel planted at the top of the slope on thin, white clay soils over limestone, planted in 1959, right up against the tree line; 30% of the grapes were fermented as whole clusters. This should open relatively quickly after bottling and will be perfect for mid-term cellaring. Drinking window: 2027-2045. Score - 92.
