The premier cru Puligny Les Referts from Pierre Vincent's new project is delightful, with pronounced aromas of passion fruit, pomelo and spice. The texture is dense but not heavy and lingers impressively on the palate. The grapes are from 0.15ha planted in 1949. According to Vincent: 'The difference is old vines in the vineyard.' This wine will age 12 months in cask and a further six in tank. It should open up in three to five years and drink well for another 20 beyond that. Drinking window: 2028-2045. Score - 95.
