These five essays on theology are from three "venues." Three are from the authors studies at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. One is from the submissions to the Board of Ordained Ministry of the Louisville Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church for ordination. The last is from the non-resident portion of his studies with the Command and Staff College of the United States Marine Corps. The essays are "Did God Create Suffering?" "An Ethical Approach to Participation in Warfare," "On Governmental Authority," "The Sacraments," and "Concept of Command."
