Jeren awakes in the wizard academy to find the other wizards missing and a baby placed in his room. He feels the need to protect her at all costs and must run to elude the charge of a barbarian horde. He meets a group of villagers, survivors of a massacre and connects with beautiful Arium. Starting on a trek, they go through harrowing experiences avoiding feral pursuit while they accumulate friends and allies, as well as develop skills both with magic and with physical combat. Each twist and turn of their epic quest to find Evanshard Glade is daunting and leads them deeper into conflict with their ultimate enemy. It's written to be a "buckle your seatbelt" saga.
