Excerpt from Extracts From the Letters of Jonathan Hutchinson: With Some Brief Notices of His Life and Character I was born at Gedney, in the county of Lincoln, on the seventh of the second month, 1760; Where, as I have been informed, my ancestors had resided for many generations, in the occupation of farmers, the only busi ness that I ever followed. It also appears that a part of the family from which I was descended, joined the religious society of Friends soon after its rise.
