Over the years several churches have called Dr. DeVries' office at the seminary and asked for help in securing pulpit supply, pastoral candidates, and, in many cases, the caller would say "I am the chairman of the pastor search committee but I do not know what I am supposed to be doing." This guidebook was written to help. Over 100 men were interviewed who either were currently or who in the past had served on a search committee, over 100 pastors were interviewed, and several "lay people" and seminary faculty members were consulted to develop the approach outlined in this step-by-step manual. All forms and documents needed to carry out the process are included in the guidebook.
