This book was written primarily to help crime victims deal with the justice system and its ramifications. It will also be of value to the police, prosecuting and defense attorneys, as well as interested media representatives. The book utilizes my family's personal, arduous journey through this painful process after the brutal murder of our sixteen–year–old son back in 1986. While describing the details of our saga, it provides helpful advice to the reader on what they can do to better deal with their own situation. I started writing this about three years after my son's death, creating an outline and much of the first chapter. For reasons I cannot recall, I never went past that. For the past fifteen years, we have had to deal with the parole process, adding a totally new perspective to the drama. Many aspects of our case are quite unique, including some notoriety in the murderer's family. That drove me to go back to the computer and complete this painful but, hopefully, helpful process.
