PETER BARTER has had a very interesting life and he's the first to admit that he has been very lucky. Not only was he frequently in the right place at the right time but he was able to take each opportunity that presented itself and take advantage of what was on offer. Peter left school at 15 and spent 13 years in the Royal Navy, starting as a Boy Seaman and finishing up as a Lieutenant. He became a teacher then went off to university to train as a Dental Surgeon. Whilst working as a Dentist, Peter still found time to start up a Sailing school in Suffolk and also bought a Flower Nursery where he grew a wide range of flowers for the 'cut flower' trade. He is the first to acknowledge that he has relied upon the support of Patricia, his wife of almost 60 years, for without that support, much of what he has written about would not have happened.
