This research presents the significance of nonverbal communication that is used by an Indian classical dancer to interpret the sense of poetry or dance- drama and communicate the feelings evoked by music. The exploitation of the modes of nonverbal communication in Indian classical dance can be seen through 3 kinds of histrionic representation. These are the basic standing posture (pose), footwork (movements of legs) and the beautiful hand gestures. The purpose of the analysis is to integrate the nonverbal communication conveyed into 3D animation by identifying the common application of the movements in Indian classical dance, where the story-telling will be structured in dance-drama format and character-centered. The ultimate goal of the study of nonverbal communication is their use for effective communication in enhancing the aesthetic value of the communication. According to Ballerina Alessandra Ferri (1997), "Even if you are not telling a story, you are playing a character. You are playing yourself. You are bringing something of yourself into the dance. You are telling a story."
