The protagonist, Ali, is a pilot from Jordan who spends his life hopping from one lady to another. Regardless of the negative effects it has on them, he is strongly linked to her and has a younger sister called Noor. They go on a European vacation together once she finishes school. Along with his brother, he has an older sibling called Karim, and he values family life highly. In contrast to Ali, his parents come from a modest but happy household; his dad sells carpets and his mom teaches elementary school. A Noor takes her own life at one point in the novel, leaving the family's fortune to a Croatian man—and, of course, Ali—on top of everything else. Since Ali was blamed by Noor's family for her death, they cut ties with him. He was clearly not responsible enough, as they can see. Here, Ali undergoes a radical transformation; he obtains a new perspective on life, and destiny strikes back at him via his sister; he cheated on women, abusing them. The Ukrainian girl he meets on one of his travels becomes his soulmate; they marry and he has a son with her, but she and the baby both pass away shortly after delivery. While in an aircraft accident, he is arguing with someone and feels guilt for his past life.
