Kema's Journey is a true story about a female Gordon setter whose life was determined to be a breeder for a puppy mill operation in Kentucky. When she proved unworthy of the job, the owners didn't want her anymore. Ironically, because she failed at her job, Kema was given another chance for a better life. She was allowed to go with a family to Wisconsin and to become a part of their family. Instead of a chain-link kennel with a concrete floor, she now had a house to live in with couches, recliners, and even a human bed to sleep on. She learned that television doesn't have people talking to her, that a mirror isn't another dog barking at her, and food on the kitchen counter must be asked for, not stolen. In her new role as an affection magnet, Kema also learned that she can run free without fences and only her desire to stay with her humans keeps her nearby. This is a young dog's story of how hopelessness and despair suddenly turned into love and contentment. It is a story of how her life changed for the better, along with the people who made her part of their lives.
