Laura's dream is a novel that's hard to categorize, but the best way to describe it is that it's an introduction to the dark side of religion and politics as seen through the eyes of Laura Kumar, the heroine of my story. Laura is middle-aged and beginning to question what she has done with her life and where she's going. Then she gets herself into a bad situation, and she's shot. She falls into a coma. In this altered state, Laura continues her journey of soul-searching and self-discovery. But now, her mind set free, she can exchange ideas with people from her own past, with historical figures, and with others representative of certain types of thinking, all of whom flit in and out of her consciousness. This allows her to pry into subjects we Westerners take as dogma, both religious and political. What sets my book apart from other "religion-bashing" books is my savage, yet logical, technique. In spite of my harsh approach to my subject, I believe the book is highly entertaining and, more than that, mind opening.
