Dynastidae , or rhinoceros beetles, is a spectacular group of beetles whose diversity is extremely important in tropical moist forests. In Guyana, there are more than 140 species, some of which are the world’s largest insects. Paradoxically, their biology and ecology are very poorly known, and it is currently impossible to compile a complete list of species present in South America.   To fill this gap, this French-language book gathers all available information from more than five years of research in order to create a reliable and up-to-date reference for Dynastidae. Major taxonomic and systematic revisions were carried out to establish a precise list of species present in Guyana, and close collaboration with a network of local entomologists made it possible to collect biological and ecological information that significantly advanced the knowledge of Dynastidae (such as distribution, seasonality, and larval ecology). After an introduction devoted to the biology of dynastidae, their environment, and methods of observation and collection, the book provides complete identification keys and descriptive sheets for each of the species. To aid species determination, illustrations of the habitus and drawings of the parameres are shown for each species. Finally, the book summarizes assessments of collection methods and faunistics, identifying some of the gaps in collecting and providing suggestions for future exploration and research.   Illustrated throughout with photographs of the different species of dynastidae present in Guyana, Les Coléoptères Dynastidae de Guyane simplifies the identification of species and will encourage further field studies. It will appeal to naturalists, amateur or professional entomologists, managers of natural spaces, and more generally everyone involved in the protection and conservation of the natural heritage of Guyana.
