In modern times, journalism has indeed emerged as an enthralling domain in media.The journalist acts as a spokesman of mankind. The enhancing violence against journalists is the matter of thinking. Women journalists are at higher risk because they are female and in this patriarchal society women in the media profession are increasingly targeted for their reporting. There is an urgent need to increase the Women representation in media communication- print, electronic, visuals and audio to promote portrayal of women in the media and society. Gender equality is the fundamental right for all- men, women and transgender and the problem of gender discrimination must be addressed with strong commitments from governments, intergovernmental organisations, media organisations, private sector and more importantly, journalists themselves must raise their voices.
