On the contrary, the book explains that God created man in God's image and likeness. God is a spirit John 4:24, so He created man essentially a spirit being. Man has a soul (he is not a soul) and lives in the body. God is a thinking or thoughtful God for He said 'I know the thought I think towards you, thought of good and not evil'. Again, He said, "your ways are not my ways neither your thought my thought." Same way He gave man the mind with which to think and sort out life issues.
