Northwest of Nederland, Colorado, Caribou Ranch Open Space has been home to nomadic hunters, a silver mine, a recording studio, a movie set, an Arabian horse ranch, and the Switzerland Trail railroad. An artist-in-residence at this remarkable place, in 2015, Ellen Orleans hiked trails, watched wildlife, and sat by North Boulder creek, conjuring up the characters who live inside these stories.
