The need to trust God is in every life, no matter how ordinary of extraordinary. My Unexpected Life is the life story of Mervyn Hardinge, MD, DrPH, PhD, whose life was anything but expected. Growing up in India, Hardinge's childhood was filled with snakes, man-eating tigers, monkeys, and exciting family incidents. As a young man, Hardinge's academic search led him to the United States, where he studied medicine and met his wife, Margaret. During his medical career, Hardinge attended stubborn patients, and work through financial difficulties. After attending some of the top medical institutes like Loma Linda, Harvard, Berkeley and Stanford, Hardinge conducted extensive research and traveled the world. Even after his retirement, God showed him miracles as He brought him through cancer and heart disease. "Once I was young and now I am old. My journey is almost done. The road I have traveled was not chosen by me, but by the Master Guide. Looking back from the heights of age, I can see clearly the footsteps I have taken-the difficulties here, road blocks there and at times insurmountable barriers. But my Traveling Companion knew what lay ahead, and under His guiding hand, progress continued. On occasion, I grumbled at the conditions I faced, but now I can see they were the easiest of the ways for me to journey onward."
