How did I come up with the title, Pussyville ala Carte, ' you may wonder. Here is the story. I had written a short story entitled 'The Psychologicol Impairment of the Horoscope, ' and submitted it in the annual Zoetrope, (Francis Ford Coppola), short fiction contest. It did not make the cut. Believing in my work, I submitted in the Paris Review contest. After consideration it was rejected. In the mean time, I had entered two smaller short stories in Writers Digest competitions only to meet a similar fate. The struggles of a writer. Knowing that if I wanted to see my work reach the light of day I knew self-publishing was the only way. My best friend, Gary Cox, (a famous actor from the movie Barfly with Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway), was finishing work on Lincoln Road and I was finishing my work on Ocean Drive. We decided to meet up and go to happy hour at one of favorite places, Piola. Peroni beer on tap and free appetizers. Walking along Lincoln Road with Gary we both noticed how many all of the pretty girls everywhere. I turned to Gary and asked, "You know what," "What?" he replied. "They should change the name of this place from South Beach to Pussyville." We both chuckled. Having our beers and with my mind relaxed it clicked: 'Pussyville ala Carte.' This is what I will name my collection of work if I get a chance to publish it. Appetizer, Main Course, Dessert. Driven that my stain on the world is out there before I leave and to have, at the very least, my work published, I went this route.
