Lucas and Sebastian are from different families, but they find out that their families are tied together by one woman, who has been dead some time. This woman is a passive antagonist, who from what she did in the past, set the scene for present time events, hence the title, Tainted Memories. The actual link between the families needs to be resolved by the members. There are themes of prophetic nightmares, borderline personality disorder, alcohol withdrawal, and constant self-reflection, which are explored throughout, as the family try to uncover lost secrets.
