Disabled veteran Trey Reynolds is struggling to reacclimate to life back home in Pittsburgh after losing his leg on his last mission. On a whim, he gives up and leaves everyone he's ever known so he can move to Galveston, Texas, the place of his fondest childhood memories. He takes on a job renovating an old home where one night, while he's still depressed and at his lowest point, he finds a diary that was hidden away since the year 1900. Sister Margaret travels from Europe to her new assignment at an orphanage in Texas, a part of America that many said was still considered the Wild West. Consumed with fear and past regrets, she wonders if that is why God no longer speaks to her. For comfort, she begins writing in a diary. One day, she opens her diary & sees someone has written her back. Someone that she later learns is from the year 2000. As they both decide to trust in fate and share their struggles with each other, they finally start to heal. But just as Trey begins to fall for her, he learns her death in her own time is just one week away. In a race to stop history from how it's written, he experiences & learns so much more than he could have ever imagined possible.
