The Films of Sherlock Holmes is written as a follow-up to a book by the same authour (2015) entitled Sherlock Holmes: The Basil Rathbone Years & Other Films. While the Rathbone films and others are included in the new volume, more than a dozen other films have been added. Thre are the films in date oder (1931-1992) along with complete cast lists, director credits, run times, detailed plot synopses, and numerous photographs, many of which have never been seen previously. Forty-six films are included, beginning with the 1931 Hound of the Baskervilles, starring Robert Rendel, and culminating with a special 40 minute film made for an ITV Marathon, which includes four 10-minute segments with popular crime solvers (Sherlock Holmes, Dutch detective Van Der Valk, Scottish Taggart, and Inspector Wexford).
