The Kiosk Story Special Edition   looks at the history of the Northwest corner of Algonquin Park and surrounding area. From the early Native activity of Chief Amable du Fond and his descendents to the current activity as an Access Point, it has been a dramatic tale of growth and loss, Native presence, lumber entrepreneurs, the railway, tourism and changes in Park philosophy. The town of Kiosk and the 37 year operation of the Staniforth Lumber Company are featured. A brief look at some of the other interesting heritage locations in the area has been added to make a visit to the Mattawa, North Bay , Kiosk triangle inviting for new visitors to this fascinating area. Includes over 200 photographs.   The Special Edition   Includes the Kiosk On Film DVD. Kiosk On Film is a collection of films of the mill, woods operation and the town taken over the years. It finishes with spectacular shots of the fire in 1973. Included are: 1. A tourist visits 2. A Russian trade delegation visit in 1956 3. Laferriere family 8mm movies of the woods operation, working in the mill and the sawfiler’s loft. 4. Staniforth family 8mm movies of the woods operation and town. 5. 8mm movies of the fire. Music by the Kiosk Reunion Band.
